Lightning Storms, Illuminares and a 78!

July 27, 2009

My friend James invited myself and a few other friends to join him at the annual Illuminares Lantern Festival at Trout Lake on Saturday evening. James also made us an amazing dinner and we enjoyed a few drinks on his patio and took in the phenomenal view.

Suddenly it started raining and shortly after that the lightning began. The following images document the beginning of that storm and the most amazing sunset I’ve ever seen that followed. To quote my friend Mike M “it was like we were visiting another planet”.

These are my not so fantasic images of the Illuminares Festival. The rain shut down my efforts shortly after we arrived at Trout Lake. The first image is a keeper.

This has nothing to do with either Lightning Storms or Illuminares. I really don’t like sitting around tooting my own horn (well maybe I do a little), but I have to add that my friend Mike J generously took me golfing at Westwood Plateau again on Sunday and I shot a 78!!!. This is my best round of golf EVER!.

I also had my first ever eagle on the 17th hole, a very exciting day for me. On second thought maybe it did have a little to do with a lightning storm.
