Chinatown

Have you ever walked around Chinatown?

If you haven’t you should, it’s an amazing place with amazing shops and amazing foods. My friend Dawne-O and I both had the day off yesterday and so decided to first have a delicious lunch at Cafe Medina and then go pretend to be tourists in our own city. Interestingly we didn’t have to pretend, we both commented at different times how we felt like we were in another city.

I helped create this website a few years ago Yin & Yang: Chinatown Past & Present. It’s a great resource with a wealth of information detailing the struggles and contributions of the Chinese people to our great city right back to the 1800’s. Check out the “interactive” section, pick an era and watch the movies and photo tours. There’s also a great documentary in the “videos” section.

Here are random images of our adventure.
